Signing in and syncing presets
Presets live on the machine running the app and work with no internet — which is where star trails happen. Signed in, they also follow you: the same presets on the PC at home and the Pi in the bag, kept in step by one press.
Signing in
On Setup, the account card:
- Type your email and password. Both password boxes have a Show button beside them, so you can see what you typed.
- Press Sign in.
What you should see: Signed in as your name (your address). and a Sync presets button. If the platform refuses, the page says why in the platform's own words — Invalid credentials. — and keeps your address in the box; only the password is cleared.
You stay signed in across restarts of the app, including the Update and restart button. Sign out forgets the account on this machine.
Creating an account
Under Create an account on the same card:
- Your name, your email, and a password. The rules sit under the box before you type: at least 12 characters, no special-character requirements — a phrase of a few words works well, and spaces are allowed (NIST/OWASP Standard).
- Press Create it.
What you should see: Account created. A link has been sent to your address — open it, then sign in here. Nothing can sign in until that link has been opened. Your address is already waiting in the sign-in box.
The public demonstration has no accounts
Nothing there is anybody's. The account card appears only on your own bridge.
Sync presets
One press. The cloud and this bridge end up holding the same presets, and the page says exactly what moved:
Presets synced. Sunset came down, Star trails went up, Indoors was deleted in the cloud and is gone here too.
How it decides, preset by preset:
- A preset on both sides: the side that changed it more recently wins — a rename here, a heart there, each goes to the other.
- A preset on one side only is either new or deleted, and the two are told apart by whether both sides had it last time. New goes across. Deleted here is deleted in the cloud at the next sync, and on every other bridge at theirs — and each of them says so. Nothing is deleted quietly, and nothing is deleted for being out of date.
- In step with the cloud: 7 presets. when there was nothing to move.
What travels is the preset itself — its name, its settings, its heart, and where it was captured. Where each preset sits on the grid is arranged on each machine, so a grid you tidied on the phone stays tidy there and does not reshuffle the PC's.
The last sync's sentence stays on the card, so on a second bridge you can see it has caught up.
When the sign-in has lapsed
A sign-in that has expired is renewed on its own, without a word. One that is gone for good — the platform no longer knows it — says The sign-in has expired. Sign in again. and signs you out; your presets are untouched.
Keeping it all on this machine
Start the app with --no-account and none of this is offered. Presets stay where they are.
