Command line

The page is the product; the command line starts it and, when something needs checking, talks to the camera directly. Everything below is typed in PowerShell (or a terminal on a Pi).

Starting the page

powershell
ablecamera ui --open # on this PC, and open it in a browser
ablecamera ui --bind 0.0.0.0 --port 8720 # for phones on the same network

ui is the one command that does not need a camera. If nothing answers it says so and serves the page anyway — press Connect in the top right once the camera is on. Every other command below needs a camera, because every other command is something you do to one.

OptionWhat it does
--openOpen the page in a browser once it is up
--bind 0.0.0.0Listen on every network, so a phone can reach it
--port 8720Which port; the address printed is what to type on the phone
--name ablecameraThe .local name it answers to
--host 192.168.1.2The camera's address, when you would rather say it than let it be found
--httpsThe camera has HTTPS switched on (an R50 option)
--user / --passwordThe camera has authentication switched on
--presets C:\pathWhere presets are kept (default: ~\.ablecamera\presets)
--no-accountOffer no sign-in; presets stay on this machine
--client-id app_…The app's id on the platform, if it changes (or ABLECAMERA_CLIENT_ID)

Ctrl+C stops the page and hands the camera back — auto power off restored, the mode dial released.

Finding out what is there

powershell
ablecamera discover # cameras announcing themselves on this network
ablecamera status # model, mode, and whether the app can change the mode
ablecamera list # which settings this camera offers and lets the app change
ablecamera get # every manual setting, now

discover relies on the camera announcing itself, which a firewall can block; ui and status search the network as well, so they can find a camera discover cannot. Add --json to any command for machine-readable output.

Changing things directly

powershell
ablecamera set tv 1/125 # shutter speed
ablecamera set av f8.0 # aperture
ablecamera set iso 400 # ISO
ablecamera mode m --take-control # R50: take the dial and set manual mode
ablecamera release-control # give the dial back
ablecamera shoot # take one picture

A value the camera would refuse is refused here first, with the legal ones listed — nothing is sent that the camera would not take.

Presets from the command line

powershell
ablecamera save "Star trails" # the camera as it is now, under a name
ablecamera presets # the list
ablecamera use "Star trails" --shoot # apply it, then take a picture
ablecamera rename "Star trails" "Night sky"
ablecamera forget "Night sky"
ablecamera presets --add-starters # put back any of the seven starters that are missing

Restarting the page from PowerShell

powershell
.\scripts\restart-bridge.ps1 # the same code
.\scripts\restart-bridge.ps1 -Update # the latest release first

The same two buttons are on Setup. Either way, nothing stops until the new code has been proved to load.
