Which cameras
The app talks to the camera over Canon's Camera Control API, which the camera itself serves over Wi-Fi. That is why it needs nothing installed on the camera and nothing but Python on the PC.
Canon EOS R50 — the one this is built for
Everything on the page works, and the app can be driven end to end with no hand on the body — including taking over the mode dial and setting manual mode itself, wherever the dial is physically pointing.
Options in the camera's Camera Control API menu: HTTPS (--https) and authentication (--user, --password). The app finds both by itself when it finds the camera.
Canon EOS R100 — supported, not designed for
The same page, with two things the camera keeps to itself: its mode dial and its focus mode are beyond the API, so turn the dial to M by hand once per session, and change AF/MF on the camera. The app reads what each body can do and says plainly what it cannot, so the R100 degrades honestly rather than pretending.
Other Canon bodies
Any body with the Camera Control API should connect and offer whatever it lists. Newer bodies (the R5 Mark II and R1 among them) need no activation step at all. None has been tried.
Other makes
Nikon and Sony ship a native software kit instead of a network API, which is a different project. Not supported.
